Barbarian's Quest
Published in Paperback by Destiny Image Publishers (January, 1992)
Authors: Caryer Lee and Michael Pilla
Average review score:

It's filled with passion and action.
It starts with King Richard finding then translating the Barbarians Quest. The story is filled with passion and action. It shows who is really God and who is satan. It is exciting. I have never read a book this good since the Bible. It really kept my attention. I didn't want the book to end. I would give it a big two thumbs up. It ends with the future king, Author. He is the one to pull the sword out of the rock.

Barbie the Perfect Gift (Barbie Mini Crafts Kit) by Y. Pompa
This product is great! The finished craft is very useful and there is an extra one to encourage sharing. The book presents the ideas of making for and giving to others very well. The book's pictures are the usual excellent "Barbie" quality. The subject of the book fit my 4 year old daughter's exact interests and capabilities (with adult help, of course). I'm sure the book/craft will also be great for girls a little bit younger and even older that the recommended ages. I had originally bought the book/craft at my daughter's school book sale and then went to Amazon.com to purchase more for gifts. P.S. don't let the "mini" in the title fool you...the finished craft is kid size not Barbie size.

Basic Library of the World's Greatest Music
Published in Library Binding by World's Greatest Music Inc (01 November, 1995)
Author: Lee Lambert
Average review score:

A succint exposition of the world's greatest composers
Music has the ability to lift our spirits to the heights of Olympus, and the power to awaken our emotions. This book and it's corresponding tapes force one to realize the genius behind the word creation. Each of the composers in this compilation loved, hated, lost, gained, struggled, and triumphed. Did these composers choose to simply write about this? No, they chose to create music. Music that embodies each emotion, and at the same time reveals the motive force of each: imagination, creativity; intellect. The book is brief and yet poignant. Each composer's life and times are surveyed. Then Mr. Lambert takes the reader through a portion of each of the composer's pieces. With this he allows one to further appreciate each musical creation by pointing out the nuances that most of us would miss. The nuances that can stir our very souls. The beauty of this music is that each person finds something in it peculiar to themselves. The Christian finds the truth he has always known: beauty is a gift from God. The atheist finds what he knows is the truth: the genius of creative man is limitless. The lonely soul finds what he also needs; understanding and compassion. Mr. Lambert also supplements his book with trivia, crossword puzzles, and various questions in order to present not only a musical experience, but more importantly, an educational one. The only flaw with the Basic Library of The World's Greatest Music is that no CD format is currently available. But fear not, for just like the composers in this book who never rested in their quest for perfection, Mr. Lambert, mirroring this same creative genius, will not rest until his library is perfect: I have heard that a CD version will be available in the future!

Basic Skills for Homeschooling

Just the kind of resources I need!
This book is truly a wonderful resource for homeschooling families. I use a variety of materials, but there's always room for more, and I'm so glad I picked this book--what a value! The ideas in this book are really engaging and age-appropriate. Plus there are TONS of activities and topics to choose from in the English sections. The math is great too because I can give the lessons and problems to my son to work on independently while I work with my younger daughter on her lessons. A great deal. What's next -- social studies and science? I hope so! Thanks.

Batman: Gauntlet, the a DC Comic Prestige Book
Published in Paperback by DC Comics (November, 2000)
Authors: Scott Peterson, Bruce Canwell, and Lee Weeks
Average review score:

Graduation Day
After going through Batman's rigorous training, Dick Grayson, the first Robin, is ready to partner Batman in the fight to eradicate crime in Gotham City. But in order to do so, he has to pass his final test: to elude Batman from sunset till sunrise. Things take a turn for the worse when Robin unknowingly stumbles onto something which may cost him his life. Now Batman must race against time to find Robin before it is too late. This is one of the best stories I have ever read. If my memory is right, this is the first Bat book I bought (by the way, I am not a Batman fan). Definitely worth buying.

The beautiful biting machine
Published in Unknown Binding by Cheap Street ()
Author: Tanith Lee
Average review score:

Subtley Kinky Vampire Story
The limited edition of this book sells for several hundred dollars now, but this story was also published in the extremely cheesy-looking eighties SciFi erotica anthology "Arrows of Eros." It's also pretty hard to find (No book with a cover this awful stays in print for long!), but it's worth the hunt. "The Beautiful Biting Machine" is amusingly repellent, and every time the punchline comes to mind I can't help but smile at the perversity of the joke.

Becoming Tongan: An Ethnography of Childhood
Published in Hardcover by University of Hawaii Press (August, 1996)
Authors: Helen Morton and Helen Morton Lee
Average review score:

Becoming Tongan: An Ethnography of Childhood.
Thank you, Helen Morton! This is an understandable description of the Tongan culture from pre-missionary times to the current trends! Helen Mortan is in a unique position to introduce the Tongan culture to the Western Mindset. She is Australian and was married to a Tongan Man, and has his child. She presents her facts in a scholarly manner. I found this book to be much more than an ethnography of Childhood. It made the very different "Tongan Way" completely comprehensible to me.
